About the Site and Downloads

You don’t seem to have a lot of upcoming events. What’s up with that?

The upcoming events calendar only displays those events which are open to the public. Many of the events I speak at are for schools, businesses, or other specific organizations, and therefore they are limited to the audience that belongs to that particular group. Please know that the calendar will always reflect public events. Also know that we are working very hard to offer more public events to come in the near future, and we think you’ll like what’s to come in the Summer of 2013.

Why so much emphasis on iTunes and the like?

Blind Faith Ministries has chosen iTunes and Apple devices as our products of choice for distribution and enjoyment of content. However, many of our products will also work on non-Apple devices. For example, the PDF and EPUB files can be viewed on any computer, tablet, e-reader, or smart phone that supports such formats. The audio book is available as an MP3 CD, and of course standard audio CDs are fairly universal. Also, you may download a free copy of iTunes by visiting http://www.apple.com/itunes so you can take advantage of all the downloads we have to offer on your Mac or PC.

If I import your music or audio book files into my iTunes library, will I have to manually edit them so they appear where they’re supposed to and so that they don’t say “track 01 – unknown album” etc?

Absolutely not. Files purchased from this site are already optimized for iTunes and iOS devices. The audio book will appear in the Audio Books section of your iTunes library and the iOS music app. All files will be properly named and tagged. All you need to do is listen and enjoy.

Important!
If for some reason the audio book does not appear in the “Books” section of iTunes, this means it has landed in the “Music” section. To fix it, simply select the four sections of the book in your iTunes library, CTRL+Click (Mac), Right-click (PC), or otherwise access the “Get Info” dialog box. CLick on the “options” tab, and under “Media Kind” choose “audio book”. Then, put a check in the “Skip when shuffling” box. This will solve the problem.

How are downloadable albums and audio books packaged? Do I have to install something special or download numerous files?

Digital purchases that contain more than one item such as audio books are packaged in a single compressed (ZIP) file. There is nothing to install and no individual files to worry about. Simply download the ZIP archive and open it on your computer. In it you will find all the individual files that make up your purchase. You can open the folder on your Mac. Also, on a PC you need to extract the files. From there you can do with the files whatever you like. Add them to iTunes, open them in Quicktime, etc. Files added to iTunes will of course be available on all your devices if you so choose. Music can be made available in iCloud via the iTunes Match service (subscription required), and all media can be synced to your iOS devices if you wish. If you need any help at all, just Reach Out to Us. We’re here to help.:)

How do I access and download my purchased content?

If your purchase includes digital downloads, you will receive an email with a link to your purchases. Simply click the link or copy and paste the link into your browser. If your email includes an “order code”, enter that code when prompted and click “Download”. The download should begin immediately.
Notes

  • Some downloads can be rather large, so be sure you have a decent internet connection when attempting the download (cable or fiber highly recommended).
  • Do not attempt to download the files on a mobile device such as an iPad. While we do support such devices, most downloads are compressed (.ZIP) files, so you’ll need to first download them on to your Mac or PC. Open the compressed folder, then copy the resulting files, such as album tracks etc, to your mobile device if you wish.
  • If for any reason you are unable to access your downloadable content, please Contact Us right away

Can I visit your site on my iPad or Mobile Device?

Yes, the site is optimized for the iPad experience – meaning no Flash. Every aspect of the site will work just fine using Apple’s Safari on any iOS device as well as any mobile device that can access true HTML websites.

Questions About Events and Bookings

How can I pay for my event?

As with most everything about Blind Faith Ministries, there are several options available to you. We love the digital world, so if you’ll allow it, we’ll send an invoice to the email address you provide. The invoice will come from Paypal, but you do not need a Paypal account to pay for it. All you need is a creditcard. You will simply click the provided link, provide payment info, and click a button to pay. It’s that simple. Alternatively, you can pay using checks, money orders, or any payment method that is mutually agreed upon by you and Blind Faith Ministries at the time of booking.

What is the exact procedure for booking events directly through Blind Faith Ministries?

The very first thing you’ll want to do is complete the booking request form on this page. This will help us to understand the type of event you are interested in and will help us get to know you and your organization. Next, we will contact you directly. This is the point where we continue getting to know you and you really begin to get to know us. We want you to feel completely comfortable with every step of the booking process and every detail before we finally make an official booking. Feel free to ask as many questions as you want. Don’t hold back. Let us know what you’re looking for, what you are able to spend, etc. We are not machines here at Blind Faith Ministries – we’re real humans, and we believe you’re probably a real human too. Therefore, we’ll treat you as such. If the discussions take a two hour phone call, or three separate phone calls, or a conference call with you and your board/executive committee/family/dog and cat, or anything else, we’re happy to be part of it. When we have reached an agreement that is completely right for everyone involved, when it’s something we all feel good about, then and only then do we officially book. At that point, we send you a “Commit to Book” email which contains the fee, date, and payment terms we’ve agreed upon. When you reply to our email with your go ahead, we then send you the wonderfully long contract and event details form which we’re sure you’ll love reading in depth as you sip your coffee. Complete it, sign it, get it back to us, and we’re on our way. Oh yes, and of course we’ll then send along the first invoice in accordance with the terms we discussed and agreed upon.

Questions about Chatroom in Motivational Speeches

What other types of add-ons are available that are not quite as ambitious as Chatroom?

Blind Faith Ministries is happy to consider any reasonable option. Every presentation includes book signings and meet and greets. Additionally, we can be part of prayer breakfasts, power lunches, round-table discussions, leadership seminars, and much more. Some of those may be free/included, while others may incur the small follow-up fee. So just ask, and we’ll try to make it happen.

Why can’t I have Chatroom unless I book you for at least a halfday? Are you just trying to take more money from my organization?

While we don’t think most people mind making money, that’s not what it’s about at all. The simple fact is that a basic keynote, and the busy schedule that typically goes with it, is just not enough to allow Chatroom to be what it is designed to be. Chatroom really requires a minimum of two hours, not including any travel or set-up that may be necessary. This is above and beyond what is considered to be the “keynote” part of the event. If you wish to have something smaller than Chatroom, other options are available that still facilitate discussion but which take up far less time and which do not require a halfday presentation.

How much does Chatroom cost?

Chatroom costs absolutely nothing. Our only requirement is that you have booked Blind Faith Ministries for at least a “halfday appearance” rather than just a basic keynote.

How long does Chatroom typically last?

While we try to be as flexible as possible, we generally recommend planning for a 2-3 hour Chatroom. If it is determined that a longer time may be desired, we highly recommend breaking it up over several days or periods of time. For example, you might have Chatroom from 10 AM-noon, 3-5, and 7-9. Please also understand that we are not sticklers for time where Chatroom is concerned. If after only 45 minutes, people seem to have nothing left to say, we can end it. Or, if a few people wish to hang around and tlak with us afterwords, we’re ok with that too.

But isn’t “Chatroom” just a fancy label for a panel discussion?

Here at Blind Faith Ministries, we’ve been part of many panel discussions. We’ve even lead panel discussions. We’ve also been a part of our own “Chatroom”, and we honestly feel that the two are as different from one another as…well…two things that are very, very different.;) Here’s what you get with Chatroom – most of which your typical panel discussion just can’t offer:

  • Discussion about absolutely anything: Most panel discussions are structured to deal with a specific subset of topics, but not Chatroom. We allow and encourage participants to talk about whatever is on their mind. Want to talk about your crazy neighbor, whether or not a girl or guy is right for you, or why you love lasagna so much? Just lead, and we’ll follow. No discussion is too personal for Chatroom, unless you say it is.
  • True interactivity: Most panel discussions allow for one person to ask a question, someone else, generally the leader, to answer it, and in a few rare cases, a tiny response. Clocks and sayings like “let’s move on” are the order of the day. Not so with Chatroom. We want audience members to talk directly with one another and with us. We want true “discussion”, and we never limit the time spent on any given subject, until we run out of time for Chatroom.
  • True answers to real questions: Suppose someone asks a question we don’t know the answer to. Guess what we do. We call someone who might know, we look it up, or we let you do the very same thing. That’s true learning.
  • Informal and relaxed: We generally encourage those booking events with Chatroom to find places other than typical conference rooms or meeting facilities whenever possible. We could have Chatroom outside at a park, at a local restaurant or coffee shop, or at someone’s hotel room or house. Anywhere that’s large enough to hold your group is a possibility, and the more creative, the better.
  • More than just chatting: So if we’re going to truly make people feel comfortable, let’s take things a step further. We often include food, beverages, music, and more. Picture it. We’re all sitting on blankets on the grass with picnic baskets filled with yummy food, and we’ve got someone’s iPod mix playing softly in the background while we chat about life. Don’t you just feel like it’s perfect? No? What’s missing, your family pet? Fine, bring him/her along too.;)
  • Multiple Chats: While we often host one big Chatroom for all, we occasionally get requests for separate Chatrooms for, say, students and teachers, children and parents, women and men, you get the idea, and we try to accommodate such requests whenever possible.
  • Private Chats: Occasionally, a person or small group of people will want to talk more after the Chatroom is over, and this is perfectly fine with us too.

So, with all these awesome benefits and more, we think Chatroom goes way beyond a panel discussion.

Who can benefit from Chatroom?

Absolutely anyone and everyone can benefit from Chatroom. Regardless the type of group, no matter what the age, everyone has thoughts and feelings, and those thoughts and feelings deserve to be heard. Every message we offer can be taken to new heights with Chatroom, and whether we’re presenting to middle/high school students, hotel executives, hospital management, or anyone else, we feel that letting the attendees open up in this way will bring about incredible results.

Why should I add Chatroom to a motivational speech I have booked?

We think Chatroom is one of the most creative and exciting things we can offer, and we believe it will revolutionize the way speakers deliver their content. Chatroom takes any motivational speech to a whole new level by providing an open forum for the audience to express their concerns, questions, thoughts, ideas, wants, needs, and more. Without Chatroom, you’ll still get an awesome and powerful motivational speech, but by adding Chatroom, audience members will become involved in the presentation and in shaping their lives and their dreams. It’s the ultimate combination of motivation and education, because now, the keynote speaker isn’t the only one doing the talking. So, we can all learn from one another.

Questions about Chatroom - Permanent Locations

Is there a way for me to participate in Chatroom even if I can’t be there in person?

Chatroom is way more fun and way more meaningful if you’re actually there, but in cases where this is not possible, we will provide a forum, such as Facebook, Facetime, Twitter, etc for you to be part of Chatroom. Keep checking back for more details.

Besides the actual discussion, what else can I expect when I come to Chatroom?

We plan to offer the following, either weekly or at specified times:

  • Snacks and beverages (weekly)
  • Meals (specified occasions)
  • Special concerts (specified occasions)
  • Movie night (specified occasions)
  • Dances/celebrations (specified occasions)
  • Special guest speakers or speechs by Blind Faith Ministries (specified occasions)
  • Fun how-to seminars (specified occasions)
  • Book Discussions (specified occasions)
  • Outdoor activities (specified occasions)
  • Children’s activities, movies, games, and more (weekly)

Keep checking our website for upcoming events specific to the permanent Chatroom location.

But surely some discussion will not be appropriate for all ages, and surely some people might be bored with Chatroom. What about that?

We’re so glad you asked. We have lots planned for those folks who don’t wish to be part of the actual chatting. There are children’s activities, movies, games, and sometimes even special guests.

Who can come to Chatroom?

Anyone can come to Chatroom – anyone at all. There are no age restrictions, and there are no other restrictions either.

You say Chatroom is at New Hope Community Church. I’m not into church.

Chatroom is “at” New Hope Community Church. That’s the extent of it. If you choose to talk about God, we will. If you choose not to, we won’t. Remember, the discussion is up to you, and it’s lead by you.

How should I dress for Chatroom?

However you want. We mean that. Just be comfortable.

Do I have to preregister to come to Chatroom?

No, just show up and join in.

How much does it cost to attend Chatroom?

Absolutely nothing. There is no charge to attend Chatroom. If we bring in special entertainment, we may offer opportunities for donations or fundraising, but this will never be required, and it will never affect you or your status as a Chatroom participant in any way.

What if I’m not comfortable with a particular subject or discussion?

Part of Chatroom, and part of Blind Faith Ministries, is a truly openminded, nonjudgmental, love and respect for one another. We truly feel that allowing every person to be him/herself is the best way to inspire and motivate people. We also very strongly believe that people need that type of nonjudgmental environment where they can come to vent or share whatever’s on their mind. Having said that, if you feel that a certain discussion is not for you, and if you really feel uncomfortable or offended to be part of it, we encourage you to step out for a moment – see what other activities are going on, and then rejoin the group a few minutes later.

I have something I want to talk about, but I’d rather not share it out loud. What do I do?

While we highly encourage everyone to talk out loud, and while we believe that this type of informal, verbal discussion is the best way to facilitate the truth Chatroom experience, we also understand that for anyone of a number of reasons not everyone may wish to do so. So, we’ll provide both iPads and paper and pencils so that you can write your question or concern, with or without your name, and we’ll share it with the audience for discussion.

Do you offer transportation to Chatroom?

We’re working very hard on this one, and we don’t have anything definite to say at this time, but what we can say for sure is that if you live within a reasonable distance and you need a ride, you should get in touch with us, and we’ll make it happen for you if at all possible.

How do you plan to prevent one person from doing all the talking?

While we really don’t like to “prevent”, and while this type of thing may happen on occasion, we have innovative and fun ways to decide who gets the floor first at each Chatroom, and we’ll do our best to make sure that different people get a chance all the time. However, you can help too. Be bold. Don’t worry about hand raising or anything – just join right in.

Questions About the Books and writing in general

I need to purchase a large number of your book for my group. Do you offer group or volume discounts?

Please use the “Contact us form” to let us know how many books you will need and the purpose of the volume purchase. Someone will get back to you within 1-2 business days with our recommendations.

Why did you choose self-publishing for your books? Where I come from, independent authors are never viewed with the same respect as “published” authors.

First of all it must be understood that I have absolutely no ill feelings towards the process of traditional publishing or towards the authors, literary agents, and publishers who work tirelessly in this way. I have tremendous respect for them all and hope to some day be a “published’ author in the traditional sense of the word. However, in many ways, times are changing. It is now possible for those who wish to be published to realize their dreams immediately. This is especially important for those who, like myself, tend to have a lot to say and at least some people who claim to want to hear it. It is not easy for an unheard of writer to break into the world of traditional publishing. This idea could be compared to a new artist wishing to be signed to a record label. Shows like American Idol and others have made this process easier to some degree, but it’s still a long shot. So, for years, people have been able to go into recording studios and make their own albums which they can give or sell to friends, family, co-workers, and others. Through this method, independent (indie) musicians still have an outlet for their creativity and for getting their work to those who really do want to enjoy it. Now, thanks to digital distribution, many indie artists can also distribute their music to the world. It may not carry quite the same weight as being signed to a professional record label, but it is a start, and it has the theoretical potential of bolstering someone’s career if professionals discover the indie albums. In much the same way, anyone can now write books of any type on any subject. Independent or self-publishing companies make it easier for such authors to properly format, edit, design, distribute, and market their work and end up with a quality electronic and/or physical book.

I have written a book and would like to have the book published. Do you have any pointers as to how I go about this?

Check out our “Multimedia” section which contains a podcast on this very thing. It describes in detail the difference between traditional and self publishing. It also details the publishing process, a few independent publisher options, and details about how to create stunning e-books.

Questions About the Ministry

I would really like to attend one of your events. Do you have anything coming up?

Yes, we do. Summer 2013 and beyond will offer several public events. When we have more information on them, we’ll let you know, so keep checking the events calendar.

What is “Chatroom”?

We’re so glad you asked that question, because we wanna tell someone about it! Chatroom is a brand new, revolutionary component that can be added to many BFM speeches and messages at no extra cost. In Chatroom, the audience leads the discussion. This discussion can be based on the message, or it can be based on anything you want. We can set up Chatroom in many different places and in many different ways – over coffee, during lunch, outside, etc. We can even offer remote participation. Additionally, permanent Chatroom locations will be starting up soon. When they do, we’ll let you know. For more information please click the Chatroom link in the main menu on our website.

You don’t seem to have a lot of upcoming events. What’s up with that?

The upcoming events calendar only displays those events which are open to the public. Please know that the calendar will always reflect public events. Also know that we are working very hard to offer more public events to come in the near future, and we think you’ll like what’s to come in the Summer of 2013.

I see a lot of talk about “ministry” and about God, but I currently have no desire to go down that road. You probably have nothing to offer me unless I’m willing to get into religion and God, right?

Actually, this could not be further from the truth. I do pastor a church, and I have made no secret of the fact that I do believe in God, and that for me, He is an essential part of everything I am and everything I do. However, I believe in real, genuine, unconditional love. We do not judge, we do not “preach”, and we do not look down on anyone just because they are different or may have differing views or opinions. We feel that everyone can be successful, and everyone is worthy of happiness. Even for those who do adopt our ways of thinking regarding God, we encourage a way of thinking that is completely different from many churches and denominations of today. You may be familiar with people and churches who insist upon looking, acting, and dressing a certain way, reading their Bible every single day, refusing to drink any alcohol, and refraining from any number of other activities – from listening to certain kinds of music to watching certain television shows. Let me make it clear that I do not agree with these ways of thinking, I do not believe God, as I view Him, supports these ways of thinking, and I do not teach or support in any way such ideals. I think if anything they completely corrupt what real Christianity and Godly living is supposed to be, and I think those false teachings are one of the main reasons why so many people have negative views of the church today. Perhaps of even more importance, I recognize that this world is made up of many different types of people who come from many different backgrounds and walks of life. It is not my goal to force anyone into believing anything they don’t want to believe. Yes, I believe in God, and I love Him more than I can put into words. I also believe that He already loves you exactly as you are – that He is not looking down upon you – hating you, or otherwise disappointed in you, and He wants you to be happy, blessed, and successful. He wants you to feel worthy of anything and everything you desire. Yet I know some people do not even believe God exists. Others are disheartened by church, religion, and what they’ve come to believe God’s character to be, and others simply don’t care. At Blind Faith Ministries, we look at you exactly the same. Those are genuine, heart-felt statements – not empty words designed to manipulate you. You may not believe in God or want anything to do with church, but you still have feelings, dreams, and ideals, and you still deserve to be treated as the worthy person that you are. Everyone needs love, and that’s what we’re all about. When I am asked or permitted, I am only too excited to talk about God and what He has done for me as well as sharing what I believe He will do for you. Yet, if that’s not what you want, that’s ok too. Indeed, I have given many speeches, performed many concerts, and even performed wedding ceremonies (I am a pastor remember) in which I do not even talk about God. My goal is to help you to receive the things you desire and deserve and help you to make a difference in the world. I love God, you may not, but I can still love you. Anyone who has caused you to think differently than I’ve just stated has falsely represented God and has failed you. Talk to me, listen to my podcasts, read my blog. I think you’ll find everything I’m saying to be real and true.
