Check This Out – What a Worthy Cause

I was extremely moved by the incredible generosity demonstrated by Miley Cyrus at yesterday’s VMA Awards. For those who might not know, when it was announced that the popular song “Wrecking Ball”, and particularly the corresponding music video, had won video of the year, instead of Miley coming up to the microphone, she gave the spotlight and the award to a 22 year old homeless man named Jesse Helt.

“My name is Jesse,” he said. “I am accepting this award on behalf of the 1.6 million runaways and homeless youth in the United States who are starving, lost and scared for their lives right now. I know, because I am one of those people.”

As Miley fought back tears, Jesse continued to make a plea for all of us to take action. He was speaking on behalf of a campaign for My Friend’s Place, an organization in Los Angeles that helps homeless people from the ages of 12 to 25 find housing, jobs, health care, and schooling.

According to their website, My Friend’s Place assists and inspires homeless youth to build self-sufficient lives. There are approximately 1.7 million homeless teens in the USA alone, and organizations like MFP, and people like Miley Cyrus, should be commended for working hard to make a difference. The great news is, we too can make a difference.

I strongly encourage you to visit This Website to learn more about Miley’s campaign. There you can make a donation to My Friend’s Place and be entered for a chance to win a trip to Rio where Miley’s tour will soon be headed. Additionally, you can learn more about My Friend’s Place by clicking Here. BFM LifeQuest will be adding this campaign and others like it to our list of supported causes and projects. We want to reach out and help out in every way we can, and when we find worthy causes, we want to embrace the opportunity to be part of them and help to make the world a better place. Take a moment to donate to this cause, and perhaps you’ll also think of other ways you can be an angel in someone’s life.
